Summer 2007 GPL Revival Series
GPL Revival Series is based on Papyrus NASCAR Racing 2003 Season game. This championship is for those who like racing historic sportcars on classic road courses and street circuits from Grand Prix Legends game.
GPL Revival Series uses Ferrari 330 mod for NR2003, which can be found on this FTP-server.
Events are usually taking place on Friday evenings, with 30-minute official practice starting at 19.00 Central European Time (6.00pm British Time) followed by qualifying and races. There will be two sprint races (20-25 minutes long) at each round.
To join GPL Revival Series you need to register at Discussion Forum and send e-mail to coordinator of the series (shuralikus@yahoo.co.uk) and indicate :
1) Your name and surname
2) Your login name at Discussion Forum
2) Car number you prefer
3) Your carfile (or link to it)
Additional information about you and your online racing experience would be appreciated.
Usual place for pre- and post-race meeting of drivers is chatroom "ringrace" at WinVROC. You can also get there via any IRC-client (for example, mIRC - www.mirc.com). You have to connect to Shadow World IRC network (common server address - irc.shadowworld.net) and then join "ringrace" channel (use "/join #ringrace" command).
In order to receive driving licence required to compete in championship season, generally, driver has to take part in pair of test races sanctioned by RCM and show clean and responsible driving behaviour. Drivers, who have decent online racing experience or raced in Road Course Masters past seasons, do not need to participate in such tests.
Driver needs to fill entry form only once per season.
Event format: practice - at least 30 mins, qualifying - up to 5 laps (depending on the circuit), no happy hour, two sprint-races for 20-25 mins with separate qualifying sessions.
Pit stop frequency - 2x, car setup - free, damage - realistic, weather - around 70F and clear, hardcore mode - full, yellow flags - off, start - double file.
Forced race restarts may happen, but crashes, wrecks and any other actions on track (happened after green flag drops) cannot be the reason of race restart.
Drivers have to take into consideration, that sometimes server looses laps of the driver, who experiences internet connection trouble. If it happens, it does not mean, that the driver is just a backmarker now, therefore you should not treat him as lapped driver and expect corresponding actions (like moving over without resistance). Race laps lost by server will be returned after the race finish or in real-time by driver request (via chat message to admin).
Points system - 9-6-4-3-2-1. Fastest driver in qualifying gets two points and second-fastest gets single one. Driver who posted fastest lap during the race also gets single point.
In order to receive full points, there must be at least six drivers participating in the race. Driver should complete at least 90% of the race distance to be classified and score points in the race.
Driver champion is determined by the number of points scored during 60% events of the season (so worst four rounds are dropped).
Penalties:
1) Rolling start is traditional way to start race in NR2003. You have to maintain pace car speed until the green flag drops. Penalty for jump start - 30 seconds added to race total time.
2) If your actions are not corresponding to the current race situation, other drivers might get the penalty (black flag, for example) because of that. So you need to make sure that you know all NR2003 in-game rules and never force other drivers to break them. Penalty for forcing rule infrigements - additional lap in race classification.
3) If you cause wrecks and crashes during the race, you may be penalizied by 1-2 penalty points and/or get other penalty (start from the pits, drive through). Common rules of analysis are here - FILSCA "Minimal Driving Behavior Code", though the final decisions are made by GPL Revival Series administration. If you score 4 penalty points, then you'll be forced to skip 1 event and/or get delayed disqualification for more events. You take away 1 penalty point after each "clear" event.
4) If you are showing signs of bad preparedness for racing, you may be forced to skip next event or start from the pits in next event. These decisions are also at the discretion of GPL Revival Series administration.
